Spider Lily

Striking tropical bulbous plant with large, fragrant white flowers shaped like delicate spider legs. Unique flowers with long, slender petals radiating from a central cup-shaped corona with vanilla-like fragrance. Glossy green, strap-shaped leaves provide attractive lush backdrop. Blooms in summer with each flower lasting 3 to 5 days. Bulbous perennial native to warm regions. The flowers open to look like giant white spiders, each blossom featuring a central cup and 6 incredibly long, slender petals.

A plant with striking characteristics.

Plant bulbs shallowly with neck slightly above soil line. Prefers warm soil and bright light. Keep soil evenly moist during active summer growth but not soggy. Fertilize regularly during growing season. In cold climates, grow in containers or lift bulbs before frost for winter storage. Very low maintenance once established, not susceptible to pests or diseases. Blooms continuously from late spring to late fall. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage more blooming and redirect energy to producing new blooms rather than maintaining old ones.
